To all L.A.’s from the Sunshine State:
* Let’s plan for WLAM before it’s too late.
* Let’s put on our Birks,
* And show off our works,
* For the month of April we celebrate!
For March, let’s prepare to celebrate World Landscape Architecture Month and promote our
profession statewide! Here’s how to get ready:
|
All ASLA Members with 10 or more continuous years of Full Membership are eligible
for Fellowship in the Society. The Florida Chapter Fellows Committee wants to know if
you believe you are electable to the ASLA Council of Fellows, or if you want to suggest to the Committee another
eligible Member you think is electable.
|
The Design Awards Committee, on behalf of the Florida Chapter Executive Committee, is proud to host our annual statewide design awards program.
The Florida Chapter anticipates an exceptional 2016 Awards Program and encourages all Florida Licensed Landscape Architects and students enrolled in a Landscape Architecture program at one of Florida's Colleges or Universities to submit a project for consideration.

What change would you make to your region if money were no object?

The call for nominations for ASLA 2016 Honors is open until March 25. Be thinking about deserving candidates to nominate for the medals, Landscape Architecture Firm Award, Community Service Award, and Honorary Membership. Individual professional members and chapters may make nominations. Guidelines for each honor are posted online. Should you have any questions, please contact Honors and Awards Coordinator Mitchell.
The 2016 Call for Entries is now open and once again the award program is online. Entry submissions and payment must be received by March 18, 2016, for the Professional Awards; and May 13, 2016, for the Student Awards.
|
Starting February 1, ASLA is once again offering members a free internship posting on JobLink during the months of February, March, and April.
There are currently 88 JobLink postings.
|
ASLA is asking for nominations for people to
participate in this summer’s Diversity Summit. Candidates should be
Latino/Latina or African American, and early career professionals in public or
private practice. Send suggestions to Terry Poltrack, tpoltrack@asla.org, or have your candidates contact him directly expressing
interest and including a resume and full contact information. There are only
six openings a year, but all candidates will receive full consideration and, if
not chosen, will be considered for future Summits.
|
The annual ASLA Advocacy Day will be held on May 19.
ASLA will be hosting a series of webinars prior to the event, which will
prepare attendees for what to expect when meeting with federal legislators.
Webinars will be held Thursday, April 14 at 2 pm ET and Thursday, April 21 at 2 pm ET. On May
10 at 2 pm ET, GA
will host a conference call called "Ask the Experts," where participants
call in to ask any questions about the Advocacy Day experience. Check out the iAdvocate
video from last year’s Advocacy Day and share with others to get a
jumpstart on your advocacy efforts!
