Your executive committee values our engagement with students studying Landscape Architecture in the two State Universities with programs in our field of study: Florida International University in Miami, and The University of Florida in Gainesville. Close interaction with the faculty and students in both programs fosters a terrific sense of community within our profession, and offers the students valuable opportunities for mentorship and guidance from professional landscape architects around our State.

All ASLA Members with ten or more continuous years of Full Membership are eligible for Fellowship in the Society. The Florida Chapter Fellows Committee wants to know if you believe you are electable to the ASLA Council of Fellows.

ASLA conducted its winter Board webinar where ASLA officers and senior staff briefed trustees on 2017 year-end results across all program areas, with a special focus on emerging professionals, career discovery and diversity, and climate change.

4.5 LA CEUs from the University of Florida - Urban Landscape Habitat Restoration and Preservation

SYNOPSIS: Ecosystem services, landscape sustainability, water quantity, water quality, invasive species, habitat and community development will be covered in this course.
Attendees will learn to identify and assess landscape problems, discuss with their clientele and stakeholders key principles and practices required to conserve biodiversity and natural resources during design, construction, and post-construction phases of development, and provide recommendations that will reduce nonpoint source pollution, conserve water, provide for wildlife, prevent invasive species and, in general, improve the health of ecosystems. Attendees will also be introduced to a design tool to evaluate different landscape design scenarios and impacts on bird habitat during the migration and breeding seasons.

Each month will be hosted by a different firm in the Orlando area.

Leading with Landscape IV: Transforming North Carolina's Research Triangle

In an effort to broaden awareness of the transformation taking place in the public realm across the Research Triangle, The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF) will curate a conference and related events on April 12-15, 2018, that will draw an audience that is local, national, and international in scope. Speakers from firms throughout the U.S. and the Netherlands will present including: Civitas, Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Reed Hilderbrand, West 8, and others, along with NY Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver and Curbed National design critic Alexandra Lange. Following the conference, TCLF will also host What’s Out There Weekend Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, two days of free, expert-led tours of the region’s important cultural landscapes. In developing these events, TCLF, in partnership with the City of Raleigh, North Carolina State University, North Carolina Museum of Art, Dix Park Conservatory, and Sasaki, is working to excite and inspire constituents, helping them to understand that the ambitions of their region are worthy of critical analysis, evaluation, and broadcasting. 6.5 LA CES™ professional development hours will be available to conference attendees, pending approval.
