President's Corner
Rebound, Reopen, Second Surge…terms previously unrelated to healthcare that in the “new world” have become our highest priority. It seems strange that getting back to historical procedure volumes should be such a challenge. It seems almost like we’re planning to start doing procedures in the space station. Everyone has to figure out what’s the safest suit, how to allow re-entry, how to sterilize the environment, what equipment and supplies must be present until the next shuttle arrives in two weeks, and what strict criteria must be met to allow you to even work in the station.
Throughout healthcare, value analysis professionals are helping assess situations in every area, from surgery to administrative offices. Planning with your VA teams can be the key to a successful “reopening” as well as supporting finance with spending our meager resources wisely. It will not be an easy launch, but with your value analysis teams involved, each facility will be well on its way.
This is a trying time for everyone. No one has been untouched, but we want to assure all of you that AHVAP will continue to be there to support, educate, and promote the AHVAP mission through all of our value analysis professionals and affiliate members. I want to send a huge thank you to all of our voluntary leaders and committee members who have an unwavering passion and unfailing commitment to our organization. You are amazing! Prayers for all of our AHVAP members and their loved ones health and safety. Together we will all get through this! #WeAreAHVAP
