2020 Annual Education Virtual Conference and Supplier Showcase — Transformation Begins Here!
2020 Annual Education Virtual Conference and Supplier Showcase
Transformation Begins Here!
Could we have picked a better theme this year – Transformation! 2020 is all about transformation and change. The Conference Committee has been hard at work, and we are excited about our lineup of dynamic speakers and educational offerings. The conference will run for three hours a day on Oct. 20-22 and Oct. 27-29 starting at noon central time. Block your calendar. You won’t want to miss this.
There will be two presentations each of the six days with a short break in between and followed by the Supplier Showcase. The committee is still working with our virtual platform company on how that will all look, but the suppliers will have a ‘booth’ where you can access brochures, information and videos plus a calendar to schedule to meet one on one. Details and capabilities are still being worked on. It is important that this is meaningful and productive to our registrants as well as our suppliers/sponsors. We cannot provide this educational opportunity to members and non-members without the support of our sponsors.
On October 19, there will be a CVAHP Review Workshop for two hours live starting at noon CST. This is at an additional cost as a pre-session ($50). If you are ready to take the certification exam or at least thinking about it, you will want to take this short course. Certified AHVAP members will be presenting review material for the exam.
The conference will start off on Oct. 20 at noon CST with a live presentation from Sherry Markwell from the FDA who will speak about the FDA’s MedSun’s role in improving patient safety. At 1:15 p.m. CST, Kristin Will from Arizona State University will speak about value-based healthcare access and care outcomes.
On Oct. 21 starting at noon CST, Michael Overcash, executive director of the Environmental Genome Initiative will talk about reusable textiles. Susan Miller and Mary Beth Edger will follow at 1:15 p.m. CST on the transformation of value analysis following this pandemic.
On Oct. 22 starting at noon CST, Robin Lane form UPMC will speak about the framework of value analysis and how it needs to change to meet the needs of healthcare. The afternoon session at 1:15 p.m. CST will be dedicated to Member Regional live meetings as a networking opportunity and to learn from one another.
VA 101 and 201 will be offered on Oct. 26 as a pre-session to that week of the conference. Both are at an additional fee ($50 each). These 90-minute sessions starting at noon CST are great for new value analysis professionals as well as seasoned professionals. Value analysis is often practiced differently at different facilities and healthcare systems. There is a lot to learn from Gloria Graham and Barbara Strain, who are national thought leaders on healthcare value analysis
Oct. 27 starts the second week of the conference with a presentation from Tim Browne of ECRI who will speak about non-traditional suppliers in these untraditional times. Heather Walters will follow at 1:15 p.m. CST to tell her story about being in a new VA role just prior to the pandemic and how that role evolved.
Oct. 28 from noon - 2:15 p.m. CST (includes a 15-minute break) will be entirely dedicated to Barbara Strain and her panel as she moderates the panel of AHVAP thought leaders on “Value Analysis Before, During and After the Pandemic.” This will be a live presentation that includes breakouts to further discussion. You are not going to want to miss this for sure.
In an effort to provide some education for our affiliate members as well as benefit the value analysis professional working with suppliers, Dee Donatelli will moderate a panel of VA professionals discussing the need for efficiency and standardization in the process of value analysis decision on Oct. 29 starting at noon CST. Dan Hermes from Lumere and Kathy Conway from Global Healthcare Exchange will present information on supplier relations post-COVID starting at 1:15 p.m. CST.
We hope that you will save some time out of your day to participate in this conference. We have submitted application for CE’s for medicine, nursing, laboratory and respiratory therapy. We are also planning some virtual networking opportunities. It is a new experience for all of us. The committee is committed to do the best we can to address your educational needs and provide you the best virtual conference we can. Can’t wait to ‘see’ you all.
