President’s Message

Dear AHVAP Members and Affiliates,

2020 is behind us, and we are off to a positive start of the New Year. We don’t want to wish any year away, but if you feel as I do, you are glad to put 2020 behind. I'm honored, excited and humbled as your 2021 President to begin this AHVAP journey together. I also want to again thank Laura Polson, our 2020 President, for her incredible work during her term to keep up with the challenges of managing our organization during a pandemic year. Laura is an extraordinary Value Analysis professional, peer mentor, and a dedicated person, who is now a part of AHVAP’s group of elite organizational leaders of the Past Presidents Council. This group continues to ensure AHVAP’s strategic support, participates in advisory roles for development and encouragement of our newer generation of AHVAP’s leaders, and assists in the nomination process for AHVAP board members and the Brooke Berson Founders Award.

Once again, our dedicated AHVAP’s Chairs, Co-Chairs, and Committees (refer to AHVAP.org, About, Leadership, Committees) are working to ensure AHVAP Members and Affiliates are receiving the utmost professional expertise and value of their membership and programs. Our 2021 conference theme, 360 Degree Change: Developing a Resilient Culture, has inspired our Committee initiatives, which include a target growth plan for districts and membership, alternative conference needs with hybrid options, expanding upon education to diverse Value Analysis programs, ramping up our marketing to promote AHVAP as the premier Value Analysis organization, introducing and engaging AHVAP to alternative national organizations, expanding recognition of CVAHP’s certification, and rolling out collaborative programs established within our Industry Business Education Collaborative (IBEC) agreements, to name a few. Additionally, the new Healthcare Industry Advisory Council (HIAC) will kick off initiatives this year to enhance collaboration and communication among affiliate members and build upon a strong foundation of programs and relationships.

AHVAP members and affiliates are the talents of AHVAP, and with collaborative efforts, I look forward to providing support and encourage you to all share your thoughts, expertise and ideas in 2021. I encourage you to get engaged by joining one of AHVAP’s Committees and/or step outside of the box and present at a district meeting or podcast.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. I am confident and have great faith that we will continue to navigate this new landscape that we professionally and personally live in as we continue building AHVAP as the leading Healthcare Value Analysis Professionals of our industry!  I also look forward to live networking again and planning to see you in Scottsdale, Arizona, for AHVAP’s National 2021 Conference Oct. 27-29.

With good health,

–Susan A. Toomey, BSHA, CVAHP, CMRP
