As we step into the hope and optimism of 2024, I couldn’t help but reflect on AHVAP’s November Professional Edge Book Club where we discussed the book “Primary Greatness” by Stephen R Covey. In this insightful book, the author spoke about the vast amount of time during a week we “do productive things” such as writing a report, creating a presentation, or preparing a financial analysis. However, how much time during the week do we invest in our abilities that can make us more productive or successful at these tasks? By that, the author considers activities such as reading a leadership book, taking an educational course, practicing mindfulness, or participating in a discussion forum. The benefit of each of these activities is that they help make you more productive because they increase your overall experience, education, and leadership skills, and the knowledge you gain helps break down some of the barriers you may have, both professionally and personally. These opportunities are what excite me the most about 2024.

There is so much to look forward to in the coming year, and I challenge you to join me by participating in some of the many options AHVAP offers to help you grow as a professional. Participation can be in the form of attending your region’s monthly huddles or our timely and professional monthly CE webinars. The Professional Edge Book Club and the AHVAP forum offer members a way to connect on various topics. AHVAP’s micro-credentialing courses, certification classes, and study materials are another way to invest in your abilities. Whether you are a seasoned member or a recent addition to our community, your contributions and insights are integral to our shared success. I am excited to embrace a new role in such a dynamic and passionate organization. Keep an eye on future communications for more details on these enriching opportunities by following our social media and interacting with your colleagues in the ways mentioned above.

Sincerely,

Anne Marie Orlando, MBA, RN, RCIS, CVAHP™, FACHDM, PNAP, FAHVAP
