The AHVAP Certification Center is pleased to announce that registration for our newest Micro-Credential, the Advanced Certificate in Medical Device Safety and Risk Management, is officially open!

Building on the foundation established by the Medical Device Safety Value Analysis Specialist micro-credential, the AHVAP Certification Center is proud to introduce the Advanced Certificate in Medical Device Safety and Risk Management Micro-Credential. This prestigious program delves deeper into the critical aspects of risk management, patient safety, healthcare quality, and strategies for the prevention and mitigation of adverse events. Designed for healthcare professionals seeking to enhance their expertise and impact in the field, this course is a rigorous exploration of the challenges and solutions in maintaining the highest standards of safety in medical device management. This advanced level program is case based and will use real-world medical device challenges as the basis for the coursework.

The course is structured into three comprehensive two-hour blocks of instruction, totaling six hours of advanced content. Each session is meticulously designed to facilitate in-depth understanding and practical application of concepts in medical device risk management, including:

  • Advanced Risk Management Techniques: Learn to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks associated with medical devices, employing state-of-the-art methodologies to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Enhancing Patient Safety in Healthcare Settings: Dive into strategies that healthcare organizations can implement to prevent adverse events, with a focus on creating a culture of safety and continuous quality improvement.
  • Mitigation of Adverse Events: Explore case studies and current best practices in responding to and managing adverse events related to medical devices, including root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be equipped to:

Participants must have previously completed the Medical Device Safety Value Analysis Specialist micro-credential prior to enrolling in this advanced level program. Program Accreditation/Micro-Credential:

Upon successful completion of the entire program, attendees will receive 6.0 hours of Continuing Education toward CVAHP recertification or nursing licenses/certifications. This program also offers IPUs that can be utilized toward the CBIC infection control designations. Upon completion of the certification test, you will be issued a digital badge highlighting your new micro-credential through our digital badging partner-Credly.

  • Medical Device Risk Management Toolkit

The training series will take place over three weeks, with sessions held on a regular schedule. We will provide all the necessary materials and resources for you to participate fully in the training.

Please note that you must attend ALL of the live sessions in order to receive your continuing education credits and be eligible for the micro-credential.
