As part of the inaugural AHAVP Executive Leaders Fellowship Program, one of our key responsibilities was to present a poster at the Annual Conference. One of our incredible colleagues, Sarah Hobbs MSN, RN, CCRN, CVAHP, not only delivered a professional and heartfelt poster, but also thoughtfully set up a table filled with inspirational cards. I still carry one of those cards in my planner — it reads, 'Don’t look back, you’re not going that way.' This is exactly how I feel as we welcome 2025. As Value Analysis professionals, we must look ahead and shape our collective healthcare landscape through collaboration, innovation, and advocacy.
One of the greatest strengths of our community is the willingness to share knowledge and experiences. This year, we've seen remarkable initiatives led by value analysis professionals who have pioneered practices within their organizations. From collaborating with industry partners to optimize clinical product selection to engaging all stakeholders at the organizational level to improve patient care, these professionals are making a lasting impact on their institutions and the healthcare field at large. The power of collaboration and evidence-based decision-making will be on full-display at the 2025 Annual Conference themed: Catalysts for a Resilient Future: Driving Healthcare Value Through Strategic Innovation.
It’s inspiring to see how our professional community continues to grow each day. The dedication, expertise, and resilience of value analysis professionals are unmatched. Whether it’s through embracing new technologies, advocating for system-wide change, or fostering interdisciplinary partnerships, you are all contributing to the ongoing success of our field. I encourage you to take a moment and reflect on the strengths that you bring to the table — whether it's your analytical skills, your commitment to improving patient outcomes, or your unwavering drive to make healthcare more efficient. These qualities define us as a community and set the stage for continued innovation.
In addition to operational excellence, our organization is contributing to advocacy efforts that influence healthcare policy and organizational strategy. Advocacy isn't just about influencing policies at the macro level; it's about speaking up for what’s best for patients, staff, and healthcare organizations overall. You may have noticed increased efforts connecting AHVAP to other professional organizations, such as AORN, and government agencies such as the FDA. I encourage you to get involved through committee work in AHVAP or through your local advocacy groups. Their work underscores the importance in driving change and improving patient care across healthcare systems.
As we move into 2025, let's continue to look ahead. The AHVAP community is at its best when we collaborate, learn from each other, and push the boundaries of what's possible. I invite you to contribute your stories and insights to our ongoing discussions, whether at zone meetings, attending webinars, or in our Circle app. Together, we can shape the future of value analysis and healthcare.
Here’s to a year of growth, innovation, and continued success.
Sincerely,
Anne Marie Orlando, MBA, RN, RCIS, CVAHP™, FACHDM, PNAP, FAHVAP
