What To Expect During An OSHA Inspection

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) conducts safety inspections at facilities in a wide array of industries where potential hazards to workers are present. For the workplaces, it is vital to be prepared — both to avoid major fines and to ensure that team members are operating in the safest possible working conditions.

Most inspections are unannounced, even if they are not random.

In addition, some workplaces invite OSHA to conduct programmed inspections at their facilities as a proactive measure to prevent accidents. If an investigator finds issues during the visit, they provide guidance and allow time to correct the shortcomings, leading to better conditions and demonstrating to OSHA the employer’s commitment to a safe workplace.
