For over 50 years, the Laundry & Linen College has stood as the beacon of laundry training and education. As the premier resource for laundry professionals in the United States and beyond, this esteemed institution has been shaping and molding individuals into skilled, informed, and accomplished experts in the field. This year, a cohort of 45 individuals embarked on a journey of learning and growth ready to absorb the wealth of knowledge and experience that the college has to offer.

At the heart of the Laundry & Linen College's curriculum are various essential classes that equip students with the expertise they need to excel in the laundry and linen industry. From equipment selection to energy management, these courses are designed to provide comprehensive and practical insights such as selecting the right equipment for your facility and developing a preventive maintenance plan, developing safety programs, the art of chemistry and its impact on processing clean, quality, textiles, safe for reuse, how to lower operational expenses and reduce the environmental impact by carefully managing energy resources, and how to maximize efficiency and productivity.

"The Laundry & Linen College: Production and Operations program was such a great learning experience. I feel much more confident in my ability to speak about the 'why' and 'how' we launder,"  shared Titus Colar, System Supervisor of Linen Distribution for NorthShore Edward Elmhurst Health.

Embedded into the learning experience is a hands-on group project which challenges participants to collaborate with their classmates to complete an assignment. In this assignment, they will assume the role of production managers who have given an important project by the owner of the commercial laundry they work in.  They were tasked with making decisions and plans, and applying concepts learned during the courses, then presented the project to their peers and facilitators for critique. The group project is the cornerstone of the Laundry & Linen College experience, and makes the learning and knowledge gained “stick”.

Colar continued, "The group project was fun, and it was great to see everyone come up with such different ideas. Although I learned a ton, my biggest takeaway was the relationships and connections that were formed. We have such a niche field; I am grateful for the opportunity to learn and connect with my peers."

The Laundry & Linen College's curriculum not only imparts knowledge but also ensures that students are well-prepared to face the laundry and linen industry's ever-evolving demands. The 45 individuals enrolled in this program will not only benefit their own careers, but they will also leave with the knowledge needed to help their company excel they're gaining the tools and insights needed to excel and become leaders in the laundry and linen field. The future of laundry and linen management is in capable hands, thanks to the Laundry & Linen College's commitment to education and excellence.
