A Closer Look at USP’s Contact Centre Operations
August 2022
Whew, this has been a hot one. Temperatures are up, but so too are excavations! Yes, while the sun in shining, more shovels have hit the ground since January than they have in a similar interval in the last 10 years. Alberta has got Construction Fever, and the only cure is More Digging!
With fall fast approaching, volumes have begun to tick up as Homeowners awaken from their sunny siestas and realize they have yet to complete that deck, or that fence, or that pergola, or…well you get the point. While the sun may still be shining, the window of Summer is drawing to a close (that made me so sad to type) and with it, the Digging Season. So the race is on! September is always a sudden whirlwind of activity in the Contact Centre. Not only are Homeowners rushing to plant their trees, but deep excavation work is in a final sprint to carve out building foundations, install water and sewer lines below the front line, and set footings for various building types before the frigid icy cold of Alberta’s winter puts those activities on hold for 6 months.
When you pass by a construction site, late August is always noticeable for a sense of quickened pace. A subtle, almost subconscious acknowledgement that the days are numbered and if they want to finish this year, an urgency must be applied! So too are things in the Contact Centre.
September is traditionally a very busy month! Not only do we have that onrush of Homeowners, we also have the bittersweet opportunity to say goodbye to our Students, who are returning to their post-secondary institutions to enrich their education (but sadly, not their career with USP).
Parting is such sweet sorrow, but we will, as always, sally forth and soldier on!
