Hello from the Training Standards Committee!
With the exciting acquisition of the Alberta Common Ground Alliance (ABCGA), Alberta One-Call Corporation (AOC) assumed responsibility for a long-standing committee with damage prevention and training standards expertise — the Training Standards Committee (TSC). Members of the TSC collaborate to create ground disturbance training standards that include stakeholder involvement in their development, maintenance and promotion. Published training standards and the resultant training courses satisfying the “standards” ensure workers receive training that is appropriate, consistent, accurate and endorsed by industry. Check out the ABCGA website for a list of training providers with endorsed ground disturbance training or to find out more about becoming an endorsed training provider.
The TSC continues to expand its reach, releasing supervisory-level Ground Disturbance 201 Standards not only in Alberta, but also under agreements with the British Columbia and Manitoba Regional Partners of the Common Ground Alliance. The TSC has also just recently developed the updated Ground Disturbance 101 Standard, which endorses programs with content appropriate for individuals working on a ground disturbance site. The TSC is looking to build even greater momentum toward damage prevention by broadening the awareness of these Standards within industry, and to expand the reach of the training standards across Canada.
The TSC is an open committee that welcomes new members who want to contribute to training standards for damage prevention! If you have any questions about this committee or would like to join us at our next meeting, please reach out to tscadmin@albertaonecall.com.
