A Closer Look at AOC’s Contact Centre Operations
June 2021
When employed by a company, it’s always relevant to step back, take a look around and ask yourself “Do I like working here?" Oftentimes, we take on jobs for various reasons that satisfy certain needs or desires, but don’t truly connect with ourselves as a person.
Recently I’ve had some feedback from Agents come across my proverbial desk, and their reasons for enjoying working here are, quite frankly, heartwarming and genuine. A company focused on Public Safety, education, awareness and outreach is, if nothing else, a pretty textbook example of one that is easy to love.
Most specifically, “Important” is how many Agents view the work that AOC does, and the work they do every day. Many come to work with a sense of pride, and work hard with the knowledge that they are “helping people dig safe”. In less interesting times, Agents would often volunteer their services to represent AOC after-hours or on weekends at public functions, extolling the virtues of safe digging and encouraging the public to not only take part in a culture of safe excavation, but to become ambassadors of sorts to their friends, family and neighbours. While it is now mostly done online in a Virtual Webinar setting, in the past Agents would tour the offices of various excavators as well, teaching them how to best utilize the system and communicate with our Membership and their Contract Locators. All in the name of safety, and a concern for social wellness.
I, like many AOC employees, have worked for many different companies over the years, but when I get the opportunity to proudly tell people that I work for Alberta One-Call, I can never do it without smiling.
