Canuck Right-of-Way Management has been working closely with Alberta One-Call (AOC) to provide a new stakeholder database and records management system with the goal of simplifying and optimizing the tracking and reporting capabilities of AOC’s DigSafe Ambassadors’ engagement with the digging community. “During the off-season, AOC reached out and said they were looking for a simplified mobile engagement tracking tool for their DigSafe Ambassadors. We worked with AOC to understand what they were looking for and what their needs were, and after a couple of meetings, development and testing, we were ready for the 2021 digging season and AOC’s Ambassador campaign” notes Canuck Right-of-Way President, Kent Taylor.
The custom-built system provides an efficient alternative to paper records and eliminates the need for physical files. With seamless integration with the Ambassadors’ smart devices while working in the field, it provides the ability to track engagement with the digging community, generate reports, keep notes on stakeholder and site meetings, and track progress and concerns.
“Prior to 2021, we were using Smartsheet to track Ambassador engagement but it doubled the Ambassadors’ documentation efforts,” says AOC’s Member Liaison, Kassi Zaba. “The Ambassadors were capturing written notes in the field and transposing them into our database later on. It wasn’t efficient.”
“Canuck Right-of-Way Management’s stakeholder database works just like an App and they custom-designed it to suit our needs,” adds AOC President, Mike Sullivan. “They’re local to the Industrial Heartland where so much activity occurs, and they’re also active EAPUOC members. Damage prevention is more than just a job or a client, it’s a shared responsibility — and Canuck Right-of-Way Management gets that.”
Canuck Right-of-Way Management is proud to collaborate with AOC on the new database. If you see one of AOC’s DigSafe Ambassadors in the field, make sure to say hi!
