TC Energy’s 2023 DigSafe Exhibit
Inspired by sidewalk and road chalk art, TC Energy’s 2023 DigSafe Month display at their headquarters in Calgary, Alberta is a one-of-a-kind. The three-dimensional-looking display draws attention to digging hazards and engages onlookers to take a brief safe digging survey via a QR code.
April is DigSafe Month — a national campaign to encourage safe digging practices and prevent accidents and damages to underground utilities caused by uncontrolled excavations. During this month, awareness is promoted regarding the safe digging practices and the importance of ClickBeforeYouDig to identify and protect buried utilities during a digging project.
Clicking Before You Dig initiates a damage prevention process with the utility companies who will locate and mark buried utilities in the vicinity of your digging project within five days. The service is free to you and it's the best practice to prevent any accidents.
Apart from initiating the damage prevention process, DigSafe month also emphasizes the following safe digging practices:
Digging by hand: Digging by hand is the safest way to excavate near buried utilities. It minimizes the risk of damaging the underground utilities and helps to identify any obstructions or unexpected objects.
Maintaining a safe distance: Maintaining a safe distance from the marked utilities is essential to prevent accidents.
Using proper equipment: The use of proper and well-maintained equipment is essential for safe digging. Before starting any digging activities, make sure the equipment is in good condition and is suited for the specific project.
Proper training: Proper training is vital for safe digging. It's crucial to understand the risks involved in digging near underground utilities and how to prevent accidents.
One click costs you nothing.
Not clicking could cost you everything!
