We invited members of the AATA community to ask their questions about AATA2023. Here are the answers from the AATA National Office Staff and the Conference Committee. To learn more about the conference, visit the AATA2023 website, or take a look at the Program Guide.
The conference offers organizations and educational programs visibility and brand awareness through event marketing, digital platforms, and promotional materials. With 1,000 expected attendees, it’s an opportunity to connect with mental health professionals and build relationships with pioneers in the profession, cutting-edge researchers, institutional decision-makers — as well as the next generation of mental health professionals. Here are some of our sponsor and exhibit offerings:

($250 - $750) ♦ Ads on the AATA2023 Mobile App. The conference app is the easiest way for attendees to check the agenda and connect with each other. We offer a rotating banner ad space at the bottom of the screen ($750) as well as a full-screen splash page ad ($2,000). 
This year’s AATA conference in San Diego is collaborating with SoCal Safe Shelter Collaborative and California Against Slavery to help survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence and sexual assault. California Against Slavery works together with 22 organizations and agencies to find help and shelter quickly. The Local Arrangements Committee wants to help by bringing awareness to this issue and also by donating art therapy kits to survivors. They are asking each conference attendee interested in participating to bring a journal of any size and some markers to the conference to donate for this cause.
As an AATA member, please consider submitting your artwork in the 2023 Member Art Exhibition. It will premiere at AATA2023! The slideshow exhibition will be viewable October 26 - 28 for about 30 minutes before the Conference Plenary Sessions and on continuous rotation throughout the conference. Please submit images by Friday, October 13, 2023 to 2023AATAslideshow@gmail.com. For more information and submission guidelines, click here. You do not have to be present at the conference to submit your artwork.
Member Corner
During National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15), we spotlight members of the Latinx community. This week, we invited Ric Ávila to talk to us about his heritage. "Hispanic culture is embedded in the entire continent from the south to the north. Pre-Columbian peoples were creators. They understood imagery and used it to heal and to connect with the universe and the divine. Being Mexican provides me the opportunity to understand the profound meaning of ritualistic healing. Being an art therapist gives me the potential to use that same approach to healing, supported by research data, and help people to move towards health within their own cultural framework."

This issue continues to honor the Journal's 40th anniversary with Editor-in-Chief Dr. Jordan Potash's editorial, Keith Haring Inspired Art Therapy. This editorial invites art therapists to consider Haring’s distinct artistic responses of the 1980s to champion social change and to reflect on the parallels between 1984 (the year the Journal premiered) and 2023.
