We are thrilled to announce our first-ever technology event, Artful Connections: Technology, Art Therapy and Mental Health, to be held Dec. 2! Our presenters will address how they apply emerging technologies to their work and research as well as the ethical implications. The event will be held live (not pre-recorded) with dynamic, engaging discussion and opportunities to network with art therapists, researchers, and mental health professionals from around the world.
By Megan VanMeter, ATR-BC, LPC, LMHC, LPC-AT/S I want to invite you to a virtual session about the all-too-common trauma of workplace bullying, this Saturday, Nov. 18. As an art therapist, and someone who has experienced workplace bullying first-hand, this is a critical topic to address for our clients’ sake as well as for our own, especially in light of data that indicates nearly half of people in the American workforce say they’ve experienced or witnessed bullying while in an occupational capacity. (Learn more in this blog post, Workplace Bullying Isn’t About A Mean 4th Grader on the Playground; It has Serious Consequences) Register today for The Trauma Hiding in Plain Sight: Workplace Bullying, Treatment Considerations, and a Case Example of Recovery as Seen through the Structure of the Expressive Therapies Continuum, Nov. 18,12 - 2pm ET. Attendees will receive 2.0 Continuing Education Hours. This event costs $50 for members, $85 for non-members, and is FREE for AATA Student Members! This event will be recorded and available to view On-Demand for all registrants for 30 days after the event is held.
By LaToya Pegram (Kinard) MAC, MAAT, LPC, LPAT, ATR-BC Multicultural Committee Chair As the active Multicultural Committee (MCC) Chair, my goal is to continue the current mission to grow both AATA and MCC memberships. Another goal is to expand overall committee involvement in AATA and increase funding to offer Multicultural Committee Pioneer Awards and other MCC endeavors. The Committee strives to be a platform to support multicultural issues from increasing knowledge of Art Therapy as a profession in culturally diverse populations. In addition, the Committee is expected to support culturally diverse students as well as practicing art therapists maintaining a safe community within AATA—where issues of multiculturalism are heard and addressed. Please join the Multicultural Committee virtually in the MyAATA Community. In addition, the Multicultural Committee is hosting an auction for the quilt completed at the AATA2023 conference. The proceeds support the Pearlie Roberson Scholarship Award Fund and/or other Multicultural Committee endeavors. Please support the Committee by bidding for the quilt!
