Art Therapy Today
AATA News

We are thrilled to open Early Bird registration for AATA 2024, our 55th Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, PA, Oct. 6 - 9, 2024! This year’s theme, Building Bridges, pays tribute to the work art therapists do every day, reaching out and connecting. It’s also a nod to Pittsburgh’s “City of Bridges” moniker.

At AATA2024, you can expect more networking opportunities, including more mini-workshops at the Open Art Studio and more SIG meetings than ever before. Whether you are a longtime professional looking to collaborate, or new to the profession and seeking mentorship or resources, you belong at AATA2024.

Consider registering ASAP to secure the lowest registration prices—and your first-choice sessions.

Last year, we celebrated the work of many AATA members who received awards during the annual ceremony held at the conference. With this year’s awards applications in mind, we invite you to take a look at a few of the winners and their research commitments to art therapy.

Mia de Béthune, Mary Andrus, and Heesu Jeon are inspiring to the AATA community, as are the other recipients who won awards last year.

As you may know, the Occupational Information Network (O*NET) is a free online database created by the Dept. of Labor (DOL) that categorizes and defines hundreds of jobs. The ways in which professions are classified and defined within the database directly impact insurance reimbursement for various professions, including art therapy.

DOL is updating the O*NET database and has asked for AATA’s help. They need a list of art therapy professionals who have five or more years of experience and hold an ATR-BC to complete the O*NET survey. In order for AATA to provide this list, we are asking art therapists to update their MyAATA profiles with the most up-to-date information about their credentials and years of experience.
