AATA News
By the Virginia Art Therapy Association Board On November 18, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin officially signed the art therapy licensure regulations. This long-awaited milestone marks a huge victory for art therapists and their supporters. While we want to take a moment to celebrate, we are not done yet! A public comment period will begin on December 16, allowing members of the public to share their thoughts on the regulations. Then, a public hearing will be held on January 25. After the public comment period closes on February 14, the Art Therapy Advisory Board will consider all comments received and vote on final regulations. AATA’s Undergraduate Education Sub-Committee is still gathering public input on their draft Undergraduate Pre-Art Therapy Education Guidelines. We ask that you review each section (links are embedded in the section titles), and indicate your agreement level — “agree,” “partially agree,” or “disagree.” Your feedback will help shape the final guidelines we plan to propose to the AATA Board, informed by insights from the art therapy community. All feedback must be submitted by December 31.
