As you begin setting goals for 2025, why not make one of them presenting at your first (or your fifteenth) conference? Whether you prefer virtual or in-person formats, AATA conferences offer a platform that fits your topic and presentation style.

Presenting at an AATA conference is a unique opportunity to showcase your research, refine your presentation skills, and enhance your resume — all while making a meaningful contribution to the art therapy profession. No prior experience is needed; whether you’re just starting out or are a seasoned professional, we’d love to see your submission for the In-Person Conference October 8-11 in Portland, Oregon or our Virtual Conference October 25-26.

If it’s your first time submitting a proposal, we encourage you to check out this video from President Nadia Paredes and Past-Conference Committee Chair Dr. Carolyn Brown Treadon about crafting the perfect proposal and read Conference Committee’s 9 Tips for Submitting a Successful Proposal.
Here's a look at the 10 most-read articles of 2024. A huge thank you to all our members who volunteered to share their expertise in our blog or for our virtual Monthly Learning Series (available on the Online Learning Academy).
Join us as we kick off 2025 with Preventive Art Therapy: The Ethical Intersection of Art Therapy and Public Health, our first virtual continuing education session of the year, hosted by Erica Curtis, LMFT, ATR-BC, Nadia F. Paredes, MA, LMFT, ATR, and Ping Ho, MA, MPH.

In this session, Erica, Ping, and Nadia will use their combined expertise to explore the ethical intersection of art therapy and public health, emphasizing the importance of addressing mental health proactively to create lasting, sustainable change.

By the AATA Nominating Committee

We are proud to present the 2024 slate of candidates for leadership positions within our association! Voting members of AATA have the opportunity to select candidates for Treasurer, Board of Directors, and the Nominating Committee. This year, international members as well as student members will have the opportunity to vote. These changes were made based on AATA members overwhelming voting to amend the bylaws to extend voting rights to international members as well as graduate and doctoral student members.

Online voting is open now. The deadline to cast your ballot is January 17, 2025. Your ballot was sent directly from AssociationVoting, which runs the anonymous elections platform. You should have also received a reminder email on December 26. To find your ballot, please search your inbox for an email announcement@associationvoting.com.
Thank you so much to all our members who renewed in 2024. Your dedication — showing up time and again to share knowledge, offer mentorship and advice, and raise awareness about mental health and art therapy — is what makes our association truly great. As a token of our appreciation, we’re thrilled to announce the winners of our December 31 raffle: Samantha Wiullett-Jackson, Willow Messier, Gina Astuto, and Jennifer Allen. Congratulations!
