Seminar & Trivia Night
Ever feel like the you don’t understand the jargon around investing and being financially savvy? What’s a TFSA? What’s the purpose of an RRSP? How much money should I be investing? Join us for a finance seminar and trivia night on Wednesday, November 1, at the Clayton Public House in Langley starting at 5pm. After the half-hour finance seminar, we will move to a trivia competition in teams of 4-6 people. Prizes will be won by the top three teams! Tickets are $20 each ($25 for non-members) and you can sign up by yourself or with a team on our website. Note that the trivia portion is not specific to finance.
Lighting Controls Seminar
Registration is now open for our seminar with tabletop exhibits sponsored by the BCEA and IES on the topic of lighting controls. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 28th from 7:30am-2:30pm at the Sandman Hotel in Vancouver.
There will be two seminars to start the event, followed by some time to explore the exhibitor tables. Breakfast and lunch are included in ticket costs. To register, purchase an exhibitor table, or sponsor this event, check out our website. Island Disc Golf

British Columbia and Ontario led non-residential construction intention gains -- building permits in August
An article published last week in Electrical Business reported that the total monthly value of building permits in Canada increased 3.4% in August 2023 to $11.9 billion, reports Statistics Canada, with strong gains in the non-residential sector offsetting modest declines in residential construction intentions. The total monthly value of non-residential permits rose 14.8% to $5.0 billion in August, with gains concentrated in Ontario (+28.5% or +$503.8 million) and British Columbia (+45.5% or +$326.2 million).
