Holiday Awards NominationsOur annual awards nominations are open. All nominations/applications must be received by November 10th, 2023. There are four awards available: Project Excellence - recognizes projects that have demonstrated design and/or construction excellence, energy-efficient buildings, or new uses of technology. Outstanding Individual Award - recognizes an individual who has shown leadership and noteworthy achievement in their community and has demonstrated professional contributions to the electrical industry. Community Contribution - recognizes a company or individual who has given back to the community, whether it’s financial or time volunteered. Betty Lou Education Relief Award - recognizes an individual who has worked in our industry for a minimum of 3 years, has made an impact within their organization, and has volunteered time to the association or the industry. The award can be used towards upcoming education costs or student loans that have yet to be paid. Events
Seminar & Trivia Night
Ever feel like the you don’t understand the jargon around investing and being financially savvy? What’s a TFSA? What’s the purpose of an RRSP? How much money should I be investing? Join us for a finance seminar and trivia night on Wednesday, November 1, at the Clayton Public House in Langley starting at 5pm. After the half-hour finance seminar, we will move to a trivia competition in teams of 4-6 people. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Tickets are $20 each ($25 for non-members) and you can sign up by yourself or with a team on our website. Note that the trivia portion is not specific to finance.
Lighting Controls Seminar
Registration is now open for our seminar with tabletop exhibits sponsored by the BCEA and IES on the topic of lighting controls. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 28th from 7:30am-2:30pm at the Sandman Hotel in Vancouver.
There will be two seminars to start the event, followed by some time to explore the exhibitor tables. Breakfast and lunch are included in ticket costs. To register, purchase an exhibitor table, or sponsor this event, check out our website. Island Disc Golf

Registration for our online Basic Electricity Course is now live. This course is a great primer for anyone new to the industry or who wants a refresher on the more basic aspects of the supply chain industry. Air Canada buys 30 hybrid-electric passenger airplanes, acquires stake in electric plane maker, targets 2028 service launch
Canada’s largest airline is snapping up some of the earliest hybrid-electric aircrafts to hit the market, putting in an order for 30 ES-30 airplanes made by Heart Aerospace of Sweden and snagging a US$5-million stake in the company in the process. (From Electric Autonomy Canada)
B.C. moves up target date for 100% electric vehicle sales
The B.C. government is moving up its target date for the transition to zero-emission vehicles. Amendments to the Zero-Emission Vehicles Act announced Tuesday will require 100 per cent of new light-duty vehicles sold in the province to be emission-free by 2035. (From CTV News Vancouver)
