Holiday Awards Nominations – Our annual awards nominations are open. All nominations/applications must be received by Nov. 10, 2023. There are four awards available:

 

Betty Lou Education Relief Award – recognizes an individual who has worked in our industry for a minimum of three years, has made an impact within their organization, and has volunteered time to the association or the industry. The award can be used towards upcoming education costs or student loans that have yet to be paid. 

 

Project Excellence – recognizes projects that have demonstrated design and/or construction excellence, energy-efficient buildings, or new uses of technology.

 

Outstanding Individual Award – recognizes an individual who has shown leadership and noteworthy achievement in their community and has demonstrated professional contributions to the electrical industry.

 

Community Contribution – recognizes a company or individual who has given back to the community, whether financially or with time volunteered.

Ontario and Quebec have agreed to swap energy to help each other out when electricity demands peak. “The deal just makes a lot of sense from both sides,” said Ontario Energy Minister Todd Smith.

BC Hydro anticipates there will be approximately 350,000 zero emission vehicles on BC roads by 2023, which in itself will add an additional 1,050 gigawatt-hours of electricity load per year.

Efficient buildings and projects to reduce the use of gas for heating on the campus has UBC on track to reach its lofty goal of a 85% reduction in CO2 emissions over 2009 levels by 2030.
