On May 28th the Builders Association was honored at the Chicago City Council meeting with a Resolution supporting the Association’s Safety Stand Down. Mayor Rahm Emanuel presented the Proclamation to the following BA representatives: Vice-Chair Ken Egidi of Pepper Construction, Treasurer Steve Lenz of The George Sollitt Construction Co., Past-Chair Jimmy Akintonde of Ujamaa Construction, Safety & Health Committee Chair Dan Ruane of W.E. O’Neil, and BA Executive Director Dan McLaughlin.
Alderman Pat O’Connor sponsored the Resolution with the Mayor that recognizes The Builders Association as the premier commercial construction industry organization in Chicago since 1906. The Resolution touted the Association’s efforts in promoting worksite safety and providing safety programs throughout the year. It also expressed the City Council and Mayor’s sincere gratitude for "protecting our citizens in the workplace." Immediately after the City Clerk read the resolution, Alderman O’Connor, Alderman Ed Burke and others made statements about the history of construction in Chicago, the role the Association has played, the importance of safety training, and expressed their appreciation for the Association’s efforts.
BA Chair Jeff Raday commented, "As Association Chairman it is extremely rewarding to have the Chicago City Council recognize our organization and our efforts in promoting workplace safety." All companies participating in the 2014 Safety Stand Down will receive a framed copy of the Resolution.
