The Builders Association has recently partnered with SALUTE, Inc., an organization created in 2003 to assist veterans and their families with financial, physical and emotional needs. BA President Jeff Raday said, "SALUTE is a very worthwhile community-based organization that is not only helping our veterans but our neighbors. The Builders Association is proud to support SALUTE’s mission to provide a safety ensuring every military family is treated with honor and dignity."
Executive Director Dan McLaughlin commented, "As an organization representing the Chicago area construction industry, it’s a natural for the Builders Association to help our veterans when the need involves reconstructing a home or building ramps to make the lives of our veterans easier."
SALUTE is currently coordinating an effort to widen the doorways and remodel the kitchen of a home in which a quadriplegic veteran resides. His mother and father are his sole caretakers, and are not even able to have their son join them at the kitchen table for dinner. We encourage our contractor and supplier members to help in donating time and talents to perform some of the work, and/or to donate any of the following items:
2 Pella Proline windows
range hood
electrical fixtures
tile back splash
countertop
hardwood flooring
paint
trim materials
kitchen sink and faucets
kitchen appliances
If you are able to get involved we would love to hear from you. Please call Dan or Stacey at the Builders Association office if you have any questions or would like more information (773) 444-0465. Thank you.
