5th International Congress on Construction History to be in Chicago this June

The 5th International Congress on Construction History is being organized by the Construction History Society of America, and will be held June 3-7, 2015. The Builders Association is proudly sponsoring one of the event’s programs on the evening of June 5, 2015. It will begin with a presentation on "Building Chicago" to showcase our progress and innovation these past 100 years. A panel discussion will be held featuring a Q&A portion. The program is scheduled for 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, followed by an hour-long cocktail reception. Members interested in attending the June 5th evening event may contact the Association for complimentary tickets.
The Congress will feature over 200 papers from authors representing 41 countries and six continents on topics like the following:
- History of the building trades or specific builders
- The development of building codes and regulations
- The development of structural forms
- Development of construction tools, cranes, scaffolding, etc.
- Building techniques in response to their environments
- Building materials, their history, production and use
- History of services (heating, lighting etc.) in buildings
- Building archaeology
- Use of construction history for dating of historic fabric
