Project Managers are often buried in the everyday management of the projects. They often take contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders for granted. "I leave all the legal mumbo jumbo for the lawyers" is common to hear from job staff. Is this responsible and prudent? As contracts continue to expand it is ever important to have well defined scopes of work and an awareness of risk allocation.
This presentation will focus on some of the known and unknown items every PM and superintendent should be aware of on the job. Indemnification, additional insured, and liquidated damages are just some of the items we will review. This presentation will be in basic construction-speak, not legalese, and is ideal for frontline project managers or superintendents with 0-10 years of experience. This is not intended to be an in-depth legal seminar for lawyers or company executives.
This program is lead by professor Brad Benhart of Purdue University. Brad Benhart has been a mainstay in the construction industry for more than 25 years. He has been involved in commercial, residential, international, and all related aspects of training, research, and education.
"Top 10 'Risky' Items Every PM or Superintendent Should Know" will be held at the Carpenters Training Facility in Elk Grove Village on Friday, April 29 from 8-11 a.m. The registration form can be found here.
