It's hiring season and everyone is looking to recruit top talent. If you're considering submitting a classified ad to The Tribune, reconsider! Young people do not often read print newspapers, and in the chance that they do see your classified ad, it may make your company look technologically stunted.
The Society For Human Resource Management found that almost 70 percent of applicants labeled as "high-potentials" were attracted more to companies with mobile recruiting options versus just over 50 percent of other applicants. Another comparison of high-potentials shows that about 75 percent use mobile devices when searching for jobs while only 40 percent of other potential employees do.
Employees classified as "high-potential" seem to use technology more efficiently than other potential employees. High-potential employees are more likely to use smartphones and tablets for everything from researching companies, receiving job alerts, filling out job applications, and taking assessments.
Moral of the story: Make sure that your online openings listing and application process are user-friendly and can be easily utilized through tablets and smartphones. No one wants to lose out on a top recruit because they got too frustrated trying to navigate around outdated technology.
