Another Successful Golf Outing In The Books

The Builders Scholarship Foundation, created in 2002, awards scholarships to deserving college students from the Chicagoland area studying civil engineering or construction management. On July 16th the Foundation Board earned an A itself for hosting another outstanding Annual Golf Outing. "The outing is the sole source of funding for the scholarship program," said Phil Diekemper, Foundation President. "This year we were quite pleased by the increase in golfers and sponsors, which resulted in raising about $35,000 so we may continue to assist future students entering our industry. Special thanks to all of those that helped make this a very successful year."

The event was held at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont on a beautiful day and started with a fantastic BBQ lunch buffet. In addition to the usual contests, a "Speed Hole" game was enjoyed by many, with the winning foursome clocking in from tee off to hole sink in 42 seconds. Golfers also had the entertaining opportunity to shoot their 11th hole drive out of a cannon launcher. The day ended with a relaxing reception, many prize winners, and much camaraderie. The Builders Association Scholarship Foundation has given over $200,000 in scholarships to 45 students. This fall's scholarship application will be available online at www.bldrs.org after August 15.
