Spring Summit Registration is Open
The 2016 Spring Summit will feature next-level safety information for contractors, honor Chicagoland’s safety stars with our Contractor Safety Awards, and provide time for invaluable industry networking. The Builders Association Compliance Committee looks forward to hosting a free Compliance Seminar before the Summit begins.
This year’s safety program will focus on "Building Erection Stability – The Next Level of Construction Safety." Substantial emphasis on safety in the construction industry in recent decades has realized major improvements, primarily employee-related. It is essential that contractors place the same emphasis on erection stability as they do on proper PPE and employee procedures.
Ray Messer, Director of Design-Build/Senior Principal, and Matt Pavelchak, Diagnostics Engineer, of Walter P. Moore in Texas will address this compelling factor including examples of simple missteps during erection that caused major structural failures resulting in serious injury and loss of life.
The Pre-Summit Compliance Seminar, presented by Compliance Committee members, will focus on the proposed changes to regulations for the Fair Labor Standards Act, exempt/non-exempt classification of employees under FLSA, and The Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act.
