The CLC will be hosting a jobsite tour on May 19th at The McCormick Place HQ Hotel and The McCormick Place Event Center, and The McCormick Place HQ Hotel is a joint venture of Clark Construction, Bulley & Andrews LLC, Old Veteran Construction, and Powers & Sons. Join the CLC for an evening of touring this exciting project, a presentation and Q&A session, and networking reception with industry peers.
The McCormick Place HQ Hotel: The new Marriott Marquis hotel at McCormick Place as part of a Design-Build team that includes Goettsch Partners as the lead designer. The 40 floor tower will include over 1,200 guest rooms including 60 specialty suites. The hotel will feature many amenities including a retail marketplace, below grade parking, banquet and meeting rooms, ballrooms, a fitness center, and a large restaurant and bar on the ground level. As part of the hotel construction, the historic American Book Company building (ABC building) will be renovated and connected to the new hotel. Two new elevated pedestrian bridges will be constructed to connect the new hotel to the new 10,000 seat event center as well as to the existing McCormick campus. The project also includes construction of a public park across the street from the hotel as well as renovations to the existing McCormick Place campus central utility plants. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2017.
The McCormick Place Event Center: The new 300,000 square foot 10,000 seat McCormick Place Event Center as part of a Design-Build team that includes Moody Nolan as the lead designer. The Event Center will feature 22 suites, club seating, team and support service spaces, broadcast facilities, and food and beverage concessions. The multipurpose arena will be home to DePaul University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams; it will also will service as a venue for concerts, special events, and general sessions for McCormick Place conventions. The project is scheduled for completion in September 2017.
