Dec. 2: Top 10 'Risky' Items Every PM or Superintendent Should Know

The Builders Education & Training Foundation looks forward to hosting the second session of the Project Management Series instructed by Brad Benhart of Purdue University. "Top 10 ‘Risky’ Items Every PM or Superintendent Should Know" will be held from 8AM to 11AM at 8430 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., First Floor Conference Center, Chicago on December 2.

The PM Series has received rave reviews over the years. One participant from the most recent series described the program as a "concise presentation that keyed in on very important concepts that make everyone more efficient." Another attendee reported that it "hit the important concepts with usable items to effectively implement immediately which will have the greatest impact on improving both professional and personal life."

Project Managers are often buried in the everyday management of the projects and may take contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders for granted. "I leave all the legal mumbo jumbo for the lawyers" is a common refrain from job staff. Is this wise and prudent? As contracts continue to expand it is ever important to have well-defined scopes of work and an awareness of risk allocation. This presentation will focus on some of the known and unknown items every PM and superintendent should be aware of on the job, including indemnification, additional insured, and liquidated damages. This presentation will be in basic construction-speak, not legalese.

"Top 10 'Risky' Items Every PM or Superintendent Should Know" is designed for front line PMs and Superintendents ranging anywhere from zero to ten years of experience. Individuals may register for the session by submitting this document to the BETF or by registering online. All questions regarding the PM series can be directed to info@bldrs.org or 773-444-0465.
