Our industry lost one of its beloved leaders last month with the passing of
William Anthony Esposito, Sr.
His 50-year career path and many achievements were shining examples of how the best in the business rise to the top. His climb up the ladder began at Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. in classic New York City fashion—as an operating engineer. It was a role he shed quickly as he rose to become a well-respected property manager. Studying at night at the New York Institute of Technology, the former US Army veteran earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
His drive and ambition took him to Chicago, where he transitioned into brokerage and eventually led the local office of Tishman Speyer in its growth and development.
Many of us in New York know him not just for his own accomplishments, but for the work he did in helping his son,
Dr. William A. Esposito, Jr., CIH/LEED AP a former BOMA/NY Outstanding Local Member of the Year, developing business for his firm, Ambient Group, Inc.
That was very much Bill’s style, says
Former BOMA/NY President John T. Griffin, CPM, who worked side-by-side with Bill at Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. "He was always there to support, train and encourage young people in the real estate profession."
Survived by many friends and a large, loving family, Bill was laid to rest in Locust Valley Cemetery on Long Island. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so by supporting Saint Francis Hospital in Port Washington, Long Island in appreciation of his memory and the wonderful care he received there during his last days.
