You may have a well-planned, comprehensive set of procedures for handling radiological incidents detailed in your EAP, but unless you and your building management team are well versed in the steps to take, those EAP protocols are just words on paper.

At our January 13th Seminar, "Making Your EAP Plan Work: How to respond to a radiological incident," the FDNY’s Chief of Counterterrorism and Emergency Preparedness, Assistant Chief Joseph W. Pfeifer, will walk you through how to prepare for and respond to this most serious of threats. Joined by other FDNY counterterrorism and emergency preparedness specialists, Pfeifer will lead a panel discussion covering these critical points:

•    Threat levels: what the City is facing now, and how it is meeting the challenge
•    How to prepare for a radiological or dirty bomb detonation
•    What to do/how to prepare in advance
•    Using your EAP to optimize the safety of your tenants
•    Key actions/responsibilities to take post-incident

This will be the third year in a row that BOMA/NY has partnered with the FDNY to stage a January seminar on topics critical to the safety of your building, management team and tenants. And since these seminars have historically filled up quickly, please make your reservations as soon as possible. Registration Forms have been emailed already, but additional copies or information can be obtained by emailing Sylvester Giustino, BOMA/NY’s Director of Legislative Affairs, at sylvester@bomany.com.

The January 13th seminar will be held at Club 101, at 101 Park Avenue at 40th Street. It begins with registration/breakfast at 8 a.m., opening remarks by BOMA/NY President Edward M. Fallon, RPA at 8:30 a.m., and then a panel discussion until 10 a.m.  Cost is $130 for BOMA/NY Members or any employee of a BOMA/NY member firm, and $165 for non-members. You must register and pre-pay by credit card or check by Friday, January 7, 2011. On-site registrations will be subject to a $25 late fee per individual.
