On the agenda at the recently-completed
BOMA International Winter Business Meeting were the results of BOMA
International’s recent "Pulse" survey, which identified some familiar concerns
as influences on future business operations and planning.
The number one concern? Local taxes and
fees.
The second most pressing issue is that
of maintaining a qualified workforce, particularly as Baby Boomers begin to
retire. At BOMA/NY, we’re supplementing the recruitment work of our member
companies with support for veterans hiring programs and student initiatives, as
well as providing, on average, a dozen scholarships a year for those seeking
professional designations, alongside a variety of educational opportunities, seminars
and courses almost every month.
Rounding out the top five concerns
were: demands on work-life balance, emerging technologies and the state of the
economy.
The leaders of local BOMA associations
offered an optimistic view of the year ahead, predicting strong growth in
committee involvement, event attendance and educational participation. All
expressed a determination to meet the challenges revealed in the Pulse Survey "head-on
in 2015 and beyond," reports BOMA International. |
