In late May and early June, BOMA/NY members can take advantage of  two state-of-the-art seminars tackling preparedness topics issues that will make a difference in your management practices this year. Look for more information on both in your inboxes soon.

Fire Protection Systems

We'll be covering a full range of important updates on these vital systems and their related practices—from what to expect when the FDNY arrives at your building for an inspection, to how to prevent unnecessary and unwarranted alarm violations, and the latest in code requirements.

We're assembling the panel now, but the date and place are booked—Thursday, May 26 at Club 101. Save the date and make sure your building team members are on board for this information-packed morning seminar.

Workplace Violence

The statistics are alarming: from 2004-08, an average of 564 work-related homicides occurred each year in the US. In 2008, a total of 526 workplace homicides occurred, or 10 percent of all fatal work injuries, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

On June 3, BOMA/NY is co-sponsoring a seminar created by Allied Barton   Security Services to address this growing problem. The seminar, being offered at no cost, will be held at One Madison Avenue, run from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and includes continental breakfast and lunch. The seminar format blends presentations by Allied Barton senior executives and NYPD leadership, interspersed with videos and a brief Q&A at the seminar’s conclusion.

Planning is underway now and more information will be sent your way shortly.
