If you’ve improved your building's energy efficiency by 20 percent and added a water efficiency category to your Energy star profile, you may want to consider entering your building in the EPA’s 2012 ENERGY STAR® National Building Competition. Known as the Battle of the Buildings, no NYC building has won to date, and its time for more representatives from the Big Apple to show the nation that our city deserves its ranking as one of the nation’s greenest major cities.
Nominations are being accepted until May 23 and will provide commercial building owners and managers an opportunity to receive national recognition for their efforts. As part of its expanded recognition program, the EPA will recognize any building that improves efficiency by 20 percent or more and has added a water efficiency category.
To be eligible to compete, a building must be benchmarked in EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager with complete data entered for calendar year 2011. Applications are due on May 23. For more information, visit www.energystar.gov/BattleOfTheBuildings.
