The Rules Have Changed

There’s good news for all those pursuing BOMI designations: BOMA/NY is ready to lend you a hand--all of you--as a result of a new change in the scholarship rules.

The change is: anyone that is employed by a BOMA/NY member firm working within the five boroughs of New York City will now become eligible for a scholarship. Previously, only those whose companies did not reimburse them for education were eligible.

As the commercial real estate business changes and becomes more competitive, the best job opportunities will be filled by those with the best credentials. With that in mind, if you are considering a BOMI designation as the next step in furthering your career, but you are concerned about affordability, the RPA, FMA, SMA and SMT course scholarship may be your  best solution.

Scholarships are awarded by the BOMA/NY Education Committee and nominations for the scholarships are made through an application process. Applications are available now and have been emailed to the membership. If you did not receive one, or know of someone who may qualify, please contact Mary Sorgente, Director of Education at 212-239-3662 or mary@bomany.com. The deadline to submit your application for this year’s scholarship is July 31, 2014.

Applicants who meet the criteria detailed in the application form will be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee. Scholarships are awarded for one designation consisting of seven courses, and will be formally conferred on Dec. 12, 2014 at the BOMA/NY Annual Holiday Luncheon.
