BOMA/NY is taking on Legionella compliance with a panel of experts at its Sept. 30 Issue Forum, Legionella and Your Cooling Tower: How to Comply with City & State Laws, and you will want to be there.

Targeted to meet the needs of all building teams, but with particular importance for portfolio and building managers, this Issue Forum will delve into the nitty gritty of the recent regulations and deadlines created by New York State and New York City.

The Forum will address such questions as:

•    When it comes to keeping a building free of Legionella, does one comply with NY State regulations? The NYC laws? Or both... and what are the differences between them?

•    How does ASHRAE 188 fit into the compliance picture?

•    What are the best practices that a building team and consultants should follow in achieving compliance?

•    How do managers develop a team to satisfy the regulations?

•    And how do the state and city regulations affect current water treatment contracts and costs?

Focal points of the panel discussion will be a side-by-side comparison of state and city compliance requirements; key scientific factors of Legionella and their ramifications; hands-on recommendations for keeping cooling tower systems safe and in complete compliance, and extensive Q&A, so that you leave the Issue Forum with all questions answered.

The BOMA/NY expert panel includes:

•    Dr. Janet Stout, Research Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, a renowned researcher and leading expert in the causes/prevention of Legionnaire’s disease

•    Dr. Marten Gaber
from the NYS Department of Health

•    Sam Wildstein, LEED AP, Director of Laboratory Services, Health, Safety and Environmental Affairs, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance for Cascade Water Services Inc., a  full-service water treatment and environmental services company

•    Trevor McProud, MESW, Research Scientist, Bureau of Environmental Sciences & Engineering, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
