The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) unveiled the "ENERGY STAR® Top Cities” rankings, its annual list of cities with the most ENERGY STAR® certified buildings, during the Monday General Session at the BOMA International Annual Conference & Expo in Nashville, Tennessee.
New York City was recognized as #3 on EPA’s top cities list with 395 buildings achieving Energy Star. This results in cost savings of $192 million. In 2016, New York City was rated at #6 with 281 buildings and cost savings of $186 million.
BOMA New York members are encouraged to consider participating in the EPA Energy Star Buildings program and utilize the EPA's information, technical guidance, and planning support. These aids can be useful in researching and implementing energy efficient upgrades in ways that are profitable, utilize proven technologies, and lower capital expenditures. By doing so, building owners and managers can increase their buildings' competitiveness while conserving energy and protecting the environment. ???????
