BOMA International is helping to lead the charge to push for new federal legislation that would help buildings and small businesses secure cheap loans to take on energy efficiency upgrades. This effort includes a rollout of their new advocacy tool, which makes it easy for you, BOMA members, to reach out to your legislators to push for (or against) legislation.
The Green Energy Loan Enhancement Act (House Bill HR 6921) would nearly double the size of Section 504 loans that you can get to improve your building’s energy efficiency, from $5.5 to $10 million. The loans are targeted at businesses “that might not otherwise obtain financing on reasonable terms and conditions,” including commercial properties. BOMA International was one of the first advocacy groups to embrace the proposed law, and they are taking a leadership role in pushing for its passage.
Their new advocacy tool lets you easily participate in this and future efforts. Simply follow this link, fill in your name and address, and hit send, and you will send a letter in support to your congress person. It’s as easy as that!
The more letters of support received, the greater the chance that this bill moves forward. So take two seconds to stand up and advocate for common sense legislation that will help NYC properties comply with laws such as LL 97.
