BOMA Facts

Dear Members:

Welcome to the first issue of our rebranded member newsletter called, BOMA New York Insider. As promised, this is the first of many new items that we will unveil in 2023; each of them adding value to being a BOMA New York member.  The following is a list of positive changes to expect through the balance of the year.

In order to amplify our advocacy efforts here in New York City and Statewide, we have retained the public affairs services of Yoswein New York. Together, we will focus on industry issues that include – LL 97 and its rulemaking process; Construction safety; eBattery charging stations and associated rules alongside the DOB and FDNY; and Sanitation – just to name a few.

In addition to the rebranded newsletter, we also rebranded the Asset Management Committee. Via a renewed commitment toward a comprehensive approach to property and asset management, in order to better bridge day-to-day property management with long-term business planning, the committee’s new name is, “Business and Marketing Strategy Committee”.

Here in New York, we are fortunate to have multiple real estate trade associations that help steward the industry with excellence. We believe in unity and strength by numbers. Over the course of the year, we will highlight key industry partners via a new Q&A Partner Profile. In this month’s issue, we sat down with the RAB on Labor Relations to discuss its origins and the daily value they bring to owners and managers on union relations and labor employment.  Keep an eye out for a collaborative webinar that we will produce with the RAB in March.

We also want to welcome BOMA New York’s newest employee, Administrative Associate, Shafira Roslan. We look forward to working together and welcome Shafira to the BOMA New York family.

Lastly, please save the date, June 21, for the first annual BOMA New York Proptech Conference & Expo. We are partnering with Fordham University’s Real Estate Institute to deliver an exciting event focused on IoT, proptech, and asset management. Expect thought leadership from the biggest names leading the technical conversation, and a multitude of companies displaying proptech solutions.

2023 is full of newness, with a promise to be a breakthrough year for each of us. I remind you to leverage your BOMA membership and participate in the forward progress of the commercial real estate industry. Whether it be a Monthly Forum, Committee Meeting, Green & Wellness Event, or future Seminar, I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,
Matt Duthie
