With Local Law 84 (the Greener Greater Buildings law) and Energy Star requirements making benchmarking a way of life, the Mayor’s Office of Long term Planning and Sustainability Office has announced that for at least three months after May 1, NO penalty will be assessed due to failure to comply with the law’s benchmarking requirements.
To answer questions about benchmarking and working with the on-line Portfolio Manager process, the Office has also established a hotline via its 311 service. Phone lines are open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All you have to do is dial 311 and say that you have questions about using the EPA tool, and you will be guided from there.
Special thanks to a partnership established by the City, CUNY and NYSERDA, which have made this all possible.
You can also keep abreast of all the updates on Local Law 84 by checking on the website www.nyc.gov/ggbp. It will take you right to PlaNYC 2030 and all the details you need will be there.
Sprinkler Deadline Looming
Be mindful that the Local Law 26 July 1 deadline for certifying that your buildings are 100 percent sprinklered is just around the corner. As we were advised by Joseph Razza of our Codes & Regulations Fire Code Subcommittee, if a building is not fully sprinklered, your report must indicate the percentage that is sprinklered and detail the steps that will be taken to achieve full compliance by 2019.
