Don’t be among the businesses who are failing to comply with grease discharge rules. If your building has food service operations on tenant floors or restaurants, then it’s essential that you "Cease the Grease", the NYC DEP’s program for preventing grease discharge into sewers and causing sewer back-ups—a problem none of us want to endure. Some quick tips to keep in mind:
• Make sure that you have installed the properly sized grease interceptors, using only a license plumber
• Maintain them regularly with frequent, routine cleaning procedures
• Recycle waste cooking oil properly
