Local Law Deadlines, Emergency Response Volunteers and Anti-Terrorism Technologies

Call for CERT Team Volunteers
CERT—you may not know about it, but when disaster strikes, you’ll wish you did. CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team, NYC’s community-based program of dedicated volunteers who help prepare neighbors for a host of disasters. Volunteers are also trained to support emergency services personnel city-wide. Your company or your building team are invited to join—and are needed. If you are interested, please contact Meagan Van Harte of OEM at mvanharte@oem.nyc.gov.

Incentives for Anti-Terrorism Technologies
The US Safety Act has benefits for the private sector building community that are going unnoticed or underutilized. In a presentation to our Preparedness Committee, Bruce Davidson, the Director of the Office of Safety Act Implementation reiterated the act’s mission to provide risk and litigation management incentives so that the private sector can develop/deploy effective anti-terrorism technologies and services to the maximum extent possible. Don’t leave opportunity on the table — see how you can be covered by the Safety Act. Contact Mr. Davidson at 202-254-5792 or bruce.davidson@dhs.gov.
