In Memoriam – Don Kerin

You always knew when Don Kerin was in the room. He wore his broad smile, firm handshake and enthusiasm for his business and clients like a well-tailored suit and made sure he visited everyone like an old friend.

Don was active in BOMA/NY, as he liked to say, from the pre-computer era, and its programs and people were not just part of his professional life, they were personal. Don, who spent his entire career in account service for the cleaning and janitorial industry, and wrapped up his career as Sales Manager with ABM Janitorial, witnessed some of the most dramatic technological changes in our industry. But to Don, people always came first; clients became friends, and friends became life-long relationships.

Unfortunately, a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer last summer took Don from us in early March. In his last days, he was surrounded by family and friends. And his friends, including many clients, paid tribute to him as he was laid to rest.

As best summed up by BOMA/NY Executive Director Bobbi McGowan, CAE, who worked with Don for many years and always could count on his support, "Don was a special person with a spirit and presence that touched us all. He will be sorely missed."
