Is Your Building Team Ready for the Big Game?

All the action may be in New Jersey at the MetLife Stadium on Feb. 2, 2014, but the week before Super Bowl XLVII comes to the New York area for the first time ever, Manhattan will be the site of pre-game activities that will impact almost every aspect of life—including building operations. To help your building teams and corporate tenants prepare for the full range of events—ranging from traffic and transit challenges, and building access issues to tenant communications and potential incidents—we’ve developed the seminar: Super Bowl Preparedness: Developing Pre-Game Strategies for Building Teams.

It will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 20 at Club 101 at 101 Park Avenue. A "tailgate" reception will follow from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the cost, including the reception, will be $100 for members and $165 for non-members.

The content has been developed by our Professional Development Committee, which has recruited a deep bench of professional panelists to help your building team and corporate tenants tackle these pre-game challenges like these.

Scouting Report: Learn how Manhattan will be impacted by pre-game events, including the where and when of events, frozen zones and street closures, transportation and mass transit challenges. We’ll also discuss the type of malicious or non-malicious threats your team may face and how to mitigate them.

Building Team: Our team of experts will identify the major concerns of operations and owners, managers, building staff and tenants, as well as how events will impact building operations in various Manhattan locations. We’re also targeting how critical building processes will be affected, as well as how and what teams should communicate with tenants.

The Stadium and Fans: Hear from official sources about the resources that New York City will deploy and the type of assistance we can count on. We’ll also review BOMA/NY’s role in interacting with city agencies to bring you real time information, much like we did throughout Hurricane Sandy and other major events.

Game Plan: Get the key details on the nuts and bolts of ensuring continuous operations. Learn effective strategies from pre-game communications to incident response.

Your coaches will share their decades of experience and include: Neil Spadaro, Boston Properties’ Director of Security and a former member of the NYPD; SL Green’s Pat Revellese, named Manager of the Year in 2012 by both BOMA/NY & REBNY; John Farrell, who heads the World Trade Center’s security program for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and a former NYPD officer as well: Kevin Peterson, Protective Security Advisor, US Department of Homeland Security, and NYC OEM’s Ira Tannenbaum. Invitations are being firmed up with experts from the FDNY.

Don’t be left on the sidelines—this unique seminar is available only through BOMA/NY. We anticipate a sold-out event, so keep an eye on your inbox for your electronic invitation. If you do not receive a copy, be sure you contact Sylvester Giustino at sylvester@bomany.com or 212-239-3669.
