SL Green, Hearst and Paramount Win as NYC Goes Three-for-Three in Regional TOBYs

BOMA/NY started off this month on a victorious note by going three-for-three at the TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) Awards competition held April 1 at the BOMA Middle Atlantic Conference Regional Conference in Boston.

All three NYC contenders that moved forward to compete regionally–The Hearst Tower (Earth Award), 110 East 42nd Street (Operating Office Building 100,000-249,999sf) and 1633 Broadway (Operating Office Building over 1 million sf)–won in their respective categories.

Paramount Group, Inc. took home its first win in its first attempt at the TOBY with its award for 1633 Broadway.

This year’s win for SL Green’s 110 East 42nd Street marks the second for the company in as many years in the Operating Office Building (100,000-249,999sf) category; it won in 2012-2013 for 461 Fifth Avenue.

It is also the second time Hearst has won a Regional TOBY; it successfully competed for Corporate Facility in 2010-2011 and ultimately won both the Regional and International TOBYs later that year. With its previous local wins for New Construction in 2006-2007 and Earth in 2007-2008, Hearst Tower is the New York building most honored in the New York Pinnacle-TOBY galaxy of awards.

Nominations Now Open!
As BOMA/NY President Thomas L. Hill, RPA said about this year’s Pinnacle Awards, the competition brings out the best in you, your team, and your building. And then it goes one step further, "setting the bar higher for all of us." Managers often say they learned to be a better manager as a result of going through the process.

So put yourself and your team to the test, and be a nominee for this upcoming year (2014-2015). Nominations are due April 30 and the forms can be found at http://www.bomany.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3390, or by emailing Ami Shah, our Director of Membership and Special Events, at ami@bomany.com
