Indian Point: Your $285 Million Opportunity
The nuclear-fueled
Indian Point Energy Center (IPEC) in Buchanan, New York, just south of Peekskill, has had its share of headline-grabbing controversies since the power plant’s inception in the 1960’s. But today, as IPEC awaits license renewal decisions on its two operating units, a unique opportunity has arisen that could deliver up to $285 million in rebates to New York and Westchester energy customers.
For two hours on
May 2, starting at 8:30 am, BOMA/NY and its panel of
Energy Action Day experts will examine the current status of IPEC, the impact its potential closing by the summer of 2016 will have on the market, and how you can benefit through this unprecedented program.
When you join us for Energy Action Day, you will learn about:
• The potential shortfall of an estimated 1,450 MW driven by the potential closing, and plans for filling that gap through reducing demand/bringing in new sources of power.
• Rebate opportunities in: load reduction, thermal storage, battery storage, chiller/HVAC/BMS/controls projects, Lighting/LED projects, DR enablement and fuel switching.
Recent case studies, where savings or revenue have ranged from $110,000 to almost $1.6 million, depending on the project type, will be used. Previous incentives vs. the opportunities with the new, increased incentives will be illustrated. See Committee Corner--Increased Incentives from the Green Team for specific rate structures.
• Eligibility parameters for your share of the $285 million in incentives and rebates being offered through Con Edison and NYSERDA, encompassing customer qualifications regarding size, project types, measurement and verification analyses/costs, aggregation, the application process, deadlines and more.
• The implementation scheduling process from an owner/manager perspective.
Our program will include:
• The Overall Scenario: keynote talk by leading Con Ed executive
• The Details: the process, and how to implement Demand Response and the Incentives by Con Ed and NYSERDA experts
• Making it Work: case studies on lighting, HVAC and energy storage by the experts actually involved in the projects
• The Owner’s Perspective: getting the ball rolling; a look at the scheduling process as experienced at Boston Properties
And because we know you will have questions, we have allotted a full half hour to Q&A.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., and it is anticipated the program will conclude at 10:30 a.m.. Electronic invitations are being sent now. If you did not receive one, please contact Bobbi McGowan at
