Flood Zones, Construction Code, Terrorism Preparedness Briefing at our Nov. 6 Annual Conference & Leadership Breakfast
If you’re about to undertake a renovation, do you know how it will be affected by NYC’s new Construction Code? Or which flood zones have been expanded and if your buildings are included? Are you familiar with the new codes that dictate building system relocations for new construction? These questions zero in on some of the key issues involving our industry today and you will get the answers on Nov. 6 at our Annual Conference and Leadership Breakfast, held at Club 101 at 101 Park Avenue and 40th Street. Running from 8 to 10 am, with time for Q&A, this event will feature the Department of Building (DOB)’s Constadino (Gus) Sirakis, PE, SECB, Executive Director of Engineering and Joseph Ackroyd, PE CFM, Director Engineering & Floodplain Administrator, both from DOB’s Technical Affairs Division. There will also be a briefing update from the latest NYPD sources.
Our DOB speakers will provide you with an overview and in-depth information on essential components of Local Laws LL 13/2014, 109 and 141, including:
•Backflow prevention requirements
•New flood maps, particularly the expanded area
•Changes in fuel oil storage
•Relocation of building systems for new buildings
•New code requirements for renovations/reconstruction

•And LL141 codes changes involving numerous issues with flooding, with post-Superstorm Sandy case studies
